When I looked a little further into the story behind the "Happy Terrorist" I was able to learn that he came from a very influential terrorist family. His father was Ali Ali Boom Bang Powie  a terrorist that was praised in Jihadist circles for the quality of their suicide bombs.  The Boom Bang Powie family has been providing suicide bomb to Jihadists since the fatwa was declared on Salman Rushdie back in 1989. As Ali would often say to his customers - "We guarantee that our bomb will take you to heaven or your next one is free"

I was able to find an example of newspaper ad that was running at the time.  See below..

In an odd way this was starting to make sense.  I know that it would be expected that The Happy Terrorist would follow in his father's footstep and continue the family tradition of making high quality explosives but it seems that The Happy Terrorist would rather sing, dance and fly kites.  The very fact that he did not follow in his father's footsteps would bring great shame to the family and most likely place a bounty on The Happy Terrorist's head.

Will he ever get the chance to dance in "Jersey Boys"?
I'll have to look into this some more....

In the Beginning

I first heard the story of "The Happy Terrorist" when I was picking up my order of curried goat at the restaurant down the street from me - "Jihad Joe's". I'm not going to lie to you I originally thought that "The Happy Terrorist" was just another urban legend like Bigfoot or Britney Spear's singing coach. As I talked to more people  I became convinced that the story of  "The Happy Terrorist" was true.

"The Happy Terrorist" is supposedly a member of a hardcore Afghan terrorist family who has dreams of starring in a Broadway show. Terrorists as they are portrayed in the press are a sullen, bitter lot who seem to shun anything that remotely feels like fun an example being  the Taliban's infamous ban on flying kites. Well "The Happy Terrorist" as his moniker suggests loves to laugh, dance and play in spite of his family's extremist upbringing. I have been able to find an archival photo that adds credence to the story of The Happy Terrorist" That photo is included below.

Who is the man in the photo? How can he skip and jump and fly kites with no fear of persecution? And what does the rest of his terrorist family think of his "unterrorist" like behaviour? These where questions that I needed to get the answers to if I was to find the truth behind the legend of "The Happy Terrorist."
